Great design makes you happy.

Ara Farnam spent six years in the interior design world, and was looking for her next big adventure when she had her "a-ha" moment.  In the middle of literally drawing a to-scale sketch of her friend's wedding centerpieces and tablescape to illustrate why her friend needed to have cylinders of various heights on the table to add more dimension, she realized that she could offer couples getting married something unique: a service that offered couples an interior-event-designer to create layered, cohesive and truly well designed events.  

So being an adventurous spirit, she quit her cushy job at the luxury design house de Gournay, and started Rock Paper Scissors Events in late 2009.  A couple years later, she expanded the company to offer great design to corporate clients looking for full service design and also smaller projects so that RPS could be their go-to resource no matter how large or small the event.

Her sense of adventure extends to foreign travel, and she balances all of this with yoga and (attempts at)  meditation. She speaks Spanish decently well, in case you do too.


Alice Richards ::  Senior Event Designer 


In 2010 Alice left her career as a litigation lawyer to pursue her love for design.  She is one of those rare right brain-left brain geniuses. Hailing from Australia where she worked for several years under prominent stylists, Alice brings a fresh and wonder-filled approach to event design in NYC, and we think that clients schedule calls with her just to hear her charming accent.  

She loves dreaming up unexpected details to reflect the uniqueness of each client and occasion, and is a champion problem solver.  Alice is a craft nut, a vintage treasure collector and a glitter addict. Her work spans weddings, corporate events, window displays and prop design for advertising and theater production.  

She joined RPS in early 2014 as a lead designer and truly delights clients with her sunny personality, can-do spirit and calm demeanor. 





Paul Benson ::  Floral Director + Lead Designer

Paul will charm you with his Australian accent and make you feel right at home the moment you meet him.  His sense of style is obvious, and he has a knack for making lemons out of lemonade taking whatever he has on site to work with and making it look fantastic.

In Sydney, Paul worked for a prominent florist and event designer, and he brought those skills with him to NYC where he worked with a major floral house.  His skills also take him into the interior design world, and we are lucky to have him oversee all of our floral production while also jumping in as a designer.


Jessica Serre ::  Lead Designer


Christina Alibrandi ::  Lead Event Coordinator


Jessie is a meticulous planner and an imaginative designer. She is a proud Florida Gator with a B.S. in Event Management and an M.S. in Leisure Studies. She likes to think big then work backwards to mold every detail to encompass both style and function. 

With over a decade spent in the world of entertainment production and special event planning, she comes to RPS with a wealth of experience in creating surreal realities and bringing ambitious visions to life. 

She is an avid reader of historical fiction and fantasy. She seeks adventure, loves to laugh, travel and host a good dinner party. She has a keen eye for photography, and most people would describe her as overly optimistic! 



Christina brings over six years of wedding planning and coordination experience in New York City and the Tri-state area to our team. She has organized intimate weddings as small as 50 guests all the way up to grandiose weddings for 800 guests, along with blowout corporate events, festivals and awards shows.

As a wedding coordinator it is her mission to make sure every single little detail is perfect for her client's special day. The month leading up to the wedding Christina works with the couple to create a comprehensive timeline of how the big day will flow and manages the vendors and logistics to ensure that everything runs smoothly so they can truly be a guest at their event.


We care deeply about the customer experience as well as the actual design, and only employ the nicest people in the industry. You can expect prompt email replies, clear direction on next steps, and an organized event professional
